April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2015 about 39,500 people will get oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer and 7,500 will die of these diseases.  Many oral cancers go undiagnosed until the disease is advanced and has spread to other areas of the body.  Because of this, oral cancer has a higher death rate than many other common cancers.  These cancers are more than twice as common in men as in women.
